Bio Moment – You spin me…

It will surprise you (not at all) that I’m back on the stinkin’ Depression train, headin’ to nowhere.

Today, I came home from work, with plans to do a bunch of things. That was three hours ago and I’ve done precisely nothing.

Well, that’s not exactly true. I did talk to my son on the phone, which is always a nice way to kill an hour. I also started the potatoes for dinner (in water) and unwrapped the meat. It’s on the counter. Helpful. Not.

But besides that, the laundry I meant to do is still piled over there. The book I planned to write about is still sitting next to me, looking terribly boring. The medication bottle I misplaced at some point over the weekend (and hoped to find) is still lost. The this and the that… are still floating around my head, like those stars when cartoon characters get bonked on the noggin’.

I’m feeling really bummed… and it’s making me dizzy. And a little crazy. And I know… repetitive. So, instead of telling you how depression and anxiety can creep up on you – or show up on your doorstep uninvited – or come rushing in like a mighty wind (all of which may or may not be even slightly familiar to you, until, you know, you’re already there.  Or at least a fair way down the Despair Highway. Good times!)

Any-who… I thought I’d do something different today. This song crossed my mind as I popped a pill for vertigo, a nice side-effect of this craptastic stew we call life in the dark days of winter when you have Seasonal Affective Disorder, Depression, Anxiety and have to wear sixteen layers of clothes with a hat that smooshes your hair and snow boots, because they’re calling for freezing rain. Yay! I love freezing rain, especially to drive and walk in, said nobody ever.

With apologies to Dead or Alive, I’m playing with their song lyrics. Because I want to… and because I can.

If I, I get to know your name
Well if I, could just remember you’re out there, always

All I know is that to me
You look like you’re made of pain
Open up and swallow me
You want reign, want reign

You, you set your sights on me (and no one else will do)
And you, you’ve got to have your way now, don’t you?

All I know is that to me
You look like you’re having fun
Dragging me to depths below
Watch out, here I come

You spin me right round, stop it
Right round like a record, clawing
Right round round round
You spin me right round, stop it
Right round like a record, clawing
Right round round round

I got to be your friend now, baby
And I know you want me much, much closer

All I know is that to me
You look like you’re loving this
Stop the record I want off
I have had enough.

You spin me right round, Depression
Right round like a record, spinning
Right round round round
You spin me right round, STOP IT
Right round like a record, playing
Right round round round.

Now here’s all the legal stuff so I can share my silly lyrics to an equally silly song, although I remember, back in the day, thinking it was super fun. It was, you know. But I digress. Anyway:
